The story so far: Season 4 The Last Kingdom Ep. 1-5 (Netflix)

Uhtred and Aethelfled have hooked up!

I knew this was bound to happen, but the sexy scene to do announce it damn, Millie Brady! Uhtred once again is bound for Bebbanburg, his land of birth  and land of birthright. When Finan reports that Bebbanburg is ripe for the taking, Uhtred proceeds to Wessex to ask for assitance from the young king, Edward.

Edward inexperienced as he is has all ears from his father in law. When the FIL, advises him not to send soldiers for reinforcements to aid Uthred on his quest he tells Uthred and disposes him to his own. Thus  a furious Uthred hastens his quest to find men of his own. Meanwhile in Mercia, the foolish lord Aethelred makes another folly by going out of his own fortress and attacking his outskirts full of Danes. This was a ploy devised by Cnut to lead him out and then attack his own town to shame him and force Wessex to fight under his terms.

Learning this the lady Aethelfled made a decision to make a stand and went back to Mercia to defend it's glory. Uhtred meanwhile is defeated and had to retreat, the defeat costed him Beocca, the almost immortal priest he has been throughout his life. Going back he meets Haesten, the dishonorable viking chieftain, who squeals of Cnut's plot and of Ragnar Ragnarson's true assailant. Uthred again rides for Mercia where in time he protects the lady Aethelfled from harm. Wessex makes a bargain with the Welsh, by giving them 100% of the spoils form the battle that is to ensue. This is because father Pyrlig the new confessor and adviser to the King was forced to swear on it.

The battle was set and because Uthred was there they devised a brilliant plan to set a trap to their advantage. A wild battle ensues but the sheer number of Danes attacking was non-stop it was then the Mercians led by Aethelred comes in and so did the Wessex army. In the end they triumphed but with a great cost of casualties. Aethelred was badly injured over the back of his head and was given days to live.

This is just a summary but I hope you watch the actual series to enjoy it as much as I am.
